Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then found numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.
A senior official stated the attack rendered him speechless and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
